Just created a tracker issue for the following, which has not been documented in the Moodle Docs (https://docs.moodle.org/37/en/Import_course_data) but causes some serious challenges for teachers:
When a teacher imports a selection of sections, activities and/or resources from a course into the course he/she's currently setting up, the import process creates a large number of empty sections. The process also overwrites existing section content in the target course with data from the source course, rendering the target course virtually useless.
The expected behaviour for the import process is to just add the selected sections, activities and resources at the end of the target course, ignoring the section numbering in the source course (by just doing a +1 for each section that has to be created).
