Collin &/or Emma:
Help me to be absolutely sure I understand the order of operations and optimal versions for moving Moodle 1.9 courses with their users & user data onto a Moodle 2.4 installation.
- Upgrade the Moodle 1.9 (actually 1.9.19+) server to Moodle 2.2.x (Moodle Server 2.2.10+ Server w. database and all the Moodle 1.9 courses - including their users?? )
- THEN upgrade the server (etc.) again from Moodle 2.2.x to Moodle 2.4. (2.4.4+?)
This two-stage upgrade procedure brings all the Moodle 1.9 courses over with their original enrollments, grades and student data intact. Correct?
I don't mind doing the extra step. Particularly if everything works out right in the end.
I'm cautions because in the not terribly distant past I put a lot of time into a version upgrade from 2.1 to 2.2 that went FAR FAR TO THE SOUTH.
I'd greatly appreciate it if one of you would confirm my summary of your useful and welcome instructions.
If confirmed, I'm planning to make a clone of our Moodle 1.9.19+ serve. Then migrate it to a LOCALHOST installation with a fast processor and plenty of memory. Then finally upgrading it to 2.4.4 on the safe & secure LOCALHOST installation.
If the experiment goes South I'll only lose my time invested.
