Migrating a course manually without mbz moodle backup

I have a fairly simple course that has over 1500 active users. The course consists of just 7 large quizes (each has over 100 questions). The course has always resided on a standalone moodle 2.0.x installation which is limping along and has really been causing me a headache as it has all sorts of problems. Trying to do a an MBZ backup just does not complete and the script seems to choke up the whole server. The database has grown to an epic size. A plain text dump is 1.5 gigs even after cleaning out the logs. Even simple XML exports from the question bank result in errors like "Can not read file, either file does not exist or there are permission problems".

I really would like to move this poor sick patient of a course to my main Moodle install where I keep all my other courses but I am completely at loss as to how to do this. My thoughts are to migrate the users (I think I am ok with that) and then somehow migrate the quiz attempts. Does anybody have any idea on how I could possibly do this manually?

If anyone can offer me any help, I would be very grateful.... It is painful banging my head on a wall for over 2 years over this! wink
