Think I'd see which courses were using that theme and attempt backups of just those via CLI to attempt to see if it's a combo of that theme + course.
If a cron/adhoc-task job stops, there could be a reference in servers error logs ... somewhere!
My 2 cents ... *if* an addon theme is causing ... drop the theme. ;)
