Is it not possible to implement "version history" for Moodle courses?

Is it not possible for Moodle to implement a version history feature (similar to Word, for example) whereby daily changes are "tracked" (i.e. not the entire course being backed up) within a course, for say the last week or two; thus allowing one to easily retrieve a version of the course from a few days earlier, in the event that someone makes an error while editing the course (other than deleting items, which are already taken care of by the course Recycle Bin)? It does not seem like this would take a significant amount of storage space. To be clear, course media files would not be saved, just updates to the course structure/text, etc. Quick side note: I also find myself thinking back to my days as a video editor, when projects (i.e. timelines containing the timecodes of the video used in the finished product, etc.) could quickly and easily be backed up at any time, while the (very) large video and audio source files remained untouched. Thanks in advance for any and all thoughts/consideration!
