It would certainly be useful if you could post much more information about this problem.
What does your backup file contains ? Only a small course, with some subsections containing just some simple resources ? Or is it a big course with lots of very big activities, with lots of questions, with user datas... ?
Do you restore in a new course or an existing one ? replacing existing content or adding it ?
Is the problem the same with just some minimal things ?
The more information you provide, more chance we have to well understand the problem (and the opposite).
