Assignments not populating in calendar post restore

We've always used the 'restore' function when creating new course sections, and once complete, all course events would populate (with adjusted dates) in the calendar. Since upgrading to 4.0, we've noticed that assignments and quizzes no longer populate - we have to open each one and re-save before they will show up in the calendar.

We tried using the 'copy course' function instead, and the assignments and quizzes DO populate. That's fine, we can use copy instead; however, I'm wondering if anything changed on the back end with respect to the 'restore' function and if anyone has experienced this problem.
