I second Ken's suggestion about duplicating the existing site.
Apart perhaps if you have some really good arguments against this way to do.
I would add to completly desactivate recyclebin (modules and courses) when you make all your changes.
And when everything is done, you can also truncate the log table, to regain a lot of space in your DB![wink]( "wink")
