From a business perspective, why would Canvas want to spend time programming their pay-for product to work with a competing LMS? I think this is the problem. Canvas and Moodle are different. I recommend manually recreating a course in Moodle, using the Canvas course as a guide, so that instructors can learn how Moodle does things.
