A huge shout out thank you to Ken for his help, suggestions and advice. Much appreciated.
I am now in a much better position to diagnose what's going on in my Moodle on the course restore front.
I can now see where it is getting to and so forth.
Pitfalls to try to avoid - having a course format applied to the export that isn't avaialble on the import.
Try not to have more than 52 topic boxes.
The long and short of it, it seems that somewhere over time my Moodle may have become a bit corrupted - maybe too many upgrades and not enough knowledge on my part.
Owing to time constraints and skill set we are going to have to go with a rebuild. Brand new fresh install of a Moodle 4 instead of an upgrade with a new database and hopefully get the courses into it.
Second on the list is upskill myself.
