thanks a lot for your detailed information!
The server/project is so to speak in an intermediate state. We bought a Moodle presence hosted by a provider, comprised of the Moodle software and a child theme developed by the provider. We do not use it productively yet. It just serves as platform for optimation purposes. Where we run the plattform in the longer run will be suject to another pitch. So the hosting company wants to have minimum costs. They do not execute the cron on linux shell. And we don't have shell access.
So the only tool I have is cronjob via the web interface, which works fine but does not trigger the cronjob. To run the cronjob is btw no prob. In Moodle 4.0 I found the opion "divertallemailsto" which redirects all mail to a single mailaddress. So no user gets annoyed.
