DAY ONE OF METHOD TWO (UPDATING FROM MOODLE.ORG)

After getting some help from tech support at my hosting company, I tried to complete the Moodle install only to be greeted by this message.

Installation must be finished from the original IP address, sorry.

Not as sorry as I am, Mr. Installer !

So I re-expanded the .zip file over the initial expanded files and got this error message when I tried to install from scratch again.

Installation must be finished from the original IP address, sorry.

So now I have an installed Moodle that is owned by the technical support person I chatted with.

NO WONDER
THERE ARE SO MANY
DESPERATE AND ANGRY
MESSAGES IN THIS FORUM !

Now I have to delete my new Moodle (that I'm now no longer allowed to install) then re-install another new Moodle in order to try again.

After reading what there is of step by step instructions, funny, but I was never informed that I would have to be ready with:

CBNAME
CBUSER
DBPASS
HOST
DB PORT
UNIX SOCKET

Now I get to be angry too.

When I think that all the troubles I've been having could have been eliminated if only there was only one dedicated documentation author inside the Moodle organization !

In this time, there's only one way to describe Moodle documentation: sketchy and incomplete.

I'm now mentally exhausted from chasing down all this obtuse minutia that I don't use and don't need to know.

Perhaps tomorrow will be TRY 2 of CHOICE TWO (updating from moodle.org)

Try 1 (today) was a dismal failure because the faulty documentation DID NOT prepare me with answers to the questions I would be asked.

Sherman
