And WHERE do the moodle backup files go?

1. I have asked my question to the forum search multiple times.
2. I was in the backups area and wound up here to type a message. That's really puzzling.
3. I selected each course and backed each course up. When I got done, there was only one backup record in the backups list. Where did my backups go? Should they not all be listed with a download link for each?
4. In my moodle i cannot find the version to type it here. Where is this stored?

I know the backup files were created. Where are they?
