I am fairly new to administering Moodle. In my efforts, I have backed up everything, including users and log, from a production 3.1 course and am restoring it in a local (VM hosted) 3.7.1 new course.
The restore seems fine. I see participants, content, etc.
Then I installed the "ad-hoc report" plugin and started writing some SQL.
This is when I noticed that there is almost no activity in the logstore_standard_log. I can see some activity but it seems that was just from what I did while it was running in the VM. The activities of the students seem to be missing. There should be plenty of activity as 70 students were taking several quizzes each week, etc.
Is there a problem restoring a 3.1 backup in 3.7? Or is there an overall problem restoring the log? Or is there something else I am missing?
My desire is to upgrade the production Moodle from 3.1 to 3.7 (by replacing it with a new server, not by actually upgrading). However, before I can move forward with 3.7, I need to know I can bring in the historical data.
Any insights would be welcomed.
