Thanks for your answer! I have now configured my automated backups exactly like yours. And I think it's not only about the amount of users, but much more the data in a course. I've seen course backups that are multiple Gigs.

Couple of questions:

1. Manual or automatic setting on automated backups: the documentation is very poor. What's the difference?
   
2. At what time and on what days do you run your automated backups?
3. What is the maximum and minimum number of backups that you keep?
4. How many is 'allowing a lot of memory for PHP' and what settings do you use?
5. The course 1 page is normally nearly empty, right? Do you think I need to exclude this as well?
