Hi Ben -we meet again First of all, FTP is not an easy option for uploading files into Moodle 2 because the course directories no longer have a recognisable number (such as 1 = site files and so on) So you can't just FTP them in. A teacher normally would upload files into sections on their course and the files would be connected to those sections. When you back up and restore the course the files will be restored fine because they use the new system. The only way to replicate FTP of 1.9 is to set up a file system repository -see here in the 2.2 docs http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/File_system_repository It might also be useful to you to read this - which explains the differences between file uploading in 1.9 and in 2 http://docs.moodle.org/22/en/Course_files
