In Solaris 10, is there a kernel limitation on the size of files the cp command can use?
Have found in CentOS 5/6 that there is a 4 Gig limit - which could be increased, but one would have to re-compile the kernel to get this support. Well, that's a tall order.
Think that's what the automated backup script uses ... cp rather than mv.
Did you check out moodledata/temp/backup directory to see what remains of failed auto backups?
If not, do so. You might find it did indeed complete but couldn't cp the resulting .mbz file to alt location.
I help admin one CentOS 6 Moodle where 3 digital type courses require manual intervention when using autobackups. Moodle is successful in building the backup but cannot 'cp' the resulting .mbz temp file to the other alt location. I can, however, from the command line, 'mv' it.
Pain in the arse ... but ... that's why I make the 'big bucks'! (Yeah, right! Seems there are some that have the mind set that open source apps means there is 'free'/un-limited support!)
