Is there a way to prevent backup/restore from including the news forum in the backup (forum of type "news"? )
Many of our course sites have 2-5 News forums (from bringing in materials year after year) which just makes the sites ugly and confusing and just bad. They don't know which one to use or delete. its confusing for students.
As our faculty have been using moodle for over 7 years, and they often use import to bring materials from a previous term, they rarely uncheck the news forum in the backup process of import. (** even though we try to train them on this).
It seems to me that either the backup or the restore process could remove this item from the backup or restore.
Does anyone have a solution for this?
A thought I had, was to create an automated script to do this after the fact, delete the activity if there are two of them and one doesn't have any posts. but i'd rather prevent it from being created in the first place.
